Where Industry meets Artistry
Double Curved
Island
This log home in Summerland asked its Kitchen builder to create an island with a double curve. I was tasked with working out how. It was modelled in solidworks software to work with the existing lighting and then CNC router cut files were gererated to make the top and bottom plates for the curved wall and the cabinet bases. CNC cut MDF templates were made for the countertop maker to copy. These curves are parabolic, not a perfect radius and thus virtually impossible to layout any other way. Radwerx then covered the curved stud wall with band sawn oak strips. The under counter wine rack (here), shelf bracketry and stair railings in the background were also designed by me.
