Where Industry meets Artistry
Steel Stairs
A client in Vancouver has a concrete third floor artist loft studio. It has a mezzanine work area above the living area which was accessed by ladder. In collaboration with Radwerx we were tasked to design and build an industrial style steel and wood staircase. Due to tight access restrictions via elevator or narrow stairs we realised it had to be built in sections and bolted together. Rather than trying to hide the joint we celebrated it. 1/2" thick laser cut steel plates for the stringers and parallam structural beams were used for the treads.
The landing incorporates to giant storage drawers that slide out 5 feet on locking industrial slides.
